Disability Legacy
In its early stages of development, the Disability programme will be designed to inspire people with a disability to take part in Sport England’s mass participation legacy programme Place, People, Play.
Schemes are set to let people know what motivates and drives people on in sport, of which whom have a disability.
Playing fields are vital to a vibrant grassroots sports environment, and this programme will enhance the role Sport England already plays in protecting playing fields, by securing the future of many sites for a minimum of 25 years, and helping communities realize the sporting benefits of playing field land.
The funding which is invested by The National Lottery helps protect playing fields around the country which enables people to use the parks and other protected areas to play sport and become healthier and fitter.
The National Lottery breaks the £10m budget up over five different payments, 2 being in 2011/12, 2 in 2012/13 and the final payment in 2013/14.
The payments are broken up into 5 payments as this can help preserve the playing areas for a longer period of time, it also allows the council to look into other options of how to build on the current success.

School Sport"The government is committed to driving a long-term Olympic legacy of more children doing competitive sport through the introduction of a new school sport competition."
The School Games is a package of events designed around supporting schools to provide more opportunities for their pupils to compete in sport.
DCMS have also announced that 60 new sport events that will introduce leagues and tournaments to schools, this will also increase the competitive nature and it will also allow children to become fit and healthy if they take an interest, there are many sports that pupils can get into, whether these can be; Football, Rugby, Hockey, Netball etc. All together there will be 30 sports available.
"500 schools across 9 regions will pilot an annual School Games Day: a ’finals’ day stemming from a programme of intra-school competition which will offer disabled children as many opportunities as non-disabled children".
By including disabled people aswell as non-disabled people, this gives the disabled minority to haev the chance to take an interest in sports which are opne for them to play, sports such as football may be hard for them to compete in, but some sports can be tailored for the disabled community to allow them to play.
After all the intra-school competitions, the best athletes will compete in the National Sporting event which will be of a high intensity/quality and will bring entertainment to those of whom are watching, this could also get them involved in sport for the future.
Disability Funding Announcement
"£2.6 million funding boost to get more disabled people playing sport".
"For the first time, Spors England will be investing money directly into five disability sports organisations to advise support and guide".
This quote was taken from the Sport England website stating what they plan to do and how to do it, they are funding this to try and encourage other sporting bodies to partner and create opportunities for disabled poeple to participate.
£1.1m is being funded by the National Lottery.
These are a few facts given;
This shows first hand, that people with disabilities do enjoy participating in sport btu are not provided with the same care or priviledges than those who are not disabled as proved in my 'Facts given', it says that only 1 in 15 disabled people get involved in regular exercise compared to 1 in 6 of the overall population.
By getting more people involved of which whom have a disability, ranging from sight problems to cerbral palsy, this can get more children involved if funding is provided and facilities and support are provided efficiently.

Disability Legacy
In its early stages of development, the Disability programme will be designed to inspire people with a disability to take part in Sport England’s mass participation legacy programme Place, People, Play.
- The Sporting bodies are trying to prevent disabled people from being treated differently from people without disabilities as this can stop people from wanting to go into sport as they feel intimidated, or less important for sport investments.
Schemes are set to let people know what motivates and drives people on in sport, of which whom have a disability.
- Increasing the opportunities for young people and adults with a disability to regularly take part in sport. This is likely to include addressing specific barriers which make participation difficult.
- Raise the profile and interest in taking part in community based sport with a view to motivating potential participants
- Ensure the Places, People Play Legacy Plan is fully accessible to people with a disability.
- Learn and promote what drives participation amongst people with a disability.

The School Games is a package of events designed around supporting schools to provide more opportunities for their pupils to compete in sport.
The programme is bringing a few partners together to help promote the idea and get children involved all over the country.
The programme consists of a variety of sports where training is applied and then schools in all areas play against others, the DCMS invests money via Sport England into the governing bodies for sports such as; The F.A (football), the RFU (Rugby) etc. This developes the link between schools and local community clubs and increase the amount of leaders and volunteers, this can increase the competitive nature of the sport and allow some children to move onto advanced training, which could lead them to a career.
There are sports available to all age and ability groups.

These are a few facts given;
- Currently one in 15 disabled adults play sport regularly compared to one in six of the overall population.
- English Federation Of Disability Sport (EFDS) has been awarded £1,527,440 funding for the period July 2011 – March 2013.
- The investments are as follows:
- British Blind Sport - £290,204
- Cerebral Palsy Sport - £183,409
- Dwarf Sports Association UK - £193,615
- British Wheelchair Sport - £196,279
- UK Deaf Sport - £281,974

"Sport England is the government agency responsible for building the foundations of sporting success, by creating a world-leading community sport environment of clubs, coaches, facilities and volunteers."
The main focus of 'Sport England' is by Growing and sustaining the amount of people taking part of sport around the country, they do this by promoting and working alongside partners to help run and plan the ideas.
It is also in place to improve talent development to help people Excel.
Grow - One million people taking part in more Sport.
More children and Young people taking part in five hours of Physical activity a week.
Most Young people do not compete in any type of physical activity, so creating programmes for schools to get everyone involved will give all people the chance to find a sport they enjoy, as the main sports played in most schools are Football and Rugby.
Sustain - More people satisfied with their sporting experience.
25% fewer 16-18 year olds dropping out of at least nine sports.
This accounts of 60% of their investment.
Excel - Improved talent development in at least 25 sports
This target accounts for 25% of the investment.#
Introducing a s sport that people have not played can interest some and this will encourage them to put in as much effort as they could to allow themselves to progress in the sport.
For example, if volleyball was introduced to a school, and children didn't really know about it or haveb't played it before, they will probably be excited about it, so therefore the children who aren't into playing sports such as; Football and Rugby can decide to play and give them the chance to excel in something that the 'sporty boys' haven't played either.
What does our work involve? - Sport England invest expertise, resources and both government and Lottery funds into community sport.
There are 46 different National Governing bodies, £480m is directly invested into these bodies, the funds will then be used to build facilities or apply coaching to those who are seen within the target group.
There are five open funding streams other organisations can apply to;
- Small Grants
- Sports match
- Iconic Facilities Fund
- Protecting Playing Fields
- Inspired Facilities
Sports centres or facilities which are provided to allow people to play sport, which will stop them playing on the streets where they can cause damage to objects (Cars, houses) etc. It also prevents causing harm to themselves, due to cars on the road and objects which can cause injury.
Without facilties open to all, such as; Parks, Ball courts and Sports centres, people will probably lose interest in sport as they do not meet new people who can become friends, they could then be invited out to play again or be encouraged to get into a variety of sports.
Who do we work with? -
To succeed, we have to work closely with a wide range of organisations, including:
- Our sporting landscape partners - Youth Sport Trust and UK Sport
- National governing bodies of sport
- National partners
- Local authorities
- County sports partnerships
- Higher and further education
- The third sector
- The commercial sector
- London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Delivery Authority
These are the main people Sport England work with to ensure that all of the other main targets are achieved, without the help provided by the Governing bodies and other Partners, the plans will be less organised and will not work efficiently for the children taking part in all activities and competitions.
Having a detailed and thorough plan, the sessions will run well and allow people to learn or gain fitness quickly.
Sport England are currently helping on 6 different schemes and 5 different major projects which can help people get into sport,
The schemes are;
Portsmouth 50m pool including athletics and cycling
Hillingdon 50m Pool including sports hall and lido
Manchester Indoor BMX proposal
PFI credit schemes
National centres project upgrades
Strategic review of national centres
The Major projects are;
- Wembley National Stadium (£120m)
- English Institute of Sport Programme (£120m funding)
- Lee Valley Athletics Stadium
- Manchester Sports City (2002 Commonwealth Games Legacy)
- Caversham Lakes National Rowing Centre.
This is the website I got this information from - http://www.sportengland.org/about_us/major_projects.aspx
As shown above, Sports England invested £120m into the Wembley building project, after this stadium was built, schools were offered the chance to go and visit so the children could get a look at the newest stadium in the UK.
Most children were offered the chance to go and visit, the sporty children who are already involved in sport are obviosly a key target group, but schools were offered large quantities of tickets to allow people of all interests to go to the stadium.

Gambling Regulations
What is the Gambling Act 2005?
The Gambling Act 2005 regulates gambling in Great Britain, including arcades, betting, bingo, casinos, gaming machines, society lotteries and remote gambling operations based in the UK. It has three principle objectives:
Keeping gambling crime free:
This means that people do not get involved in bets to gain further income, ensuring that the sports do not become corrupt and turns into a money gainin sport, this can develope into a loss of specators and having a huge loss of income within the sport.
Making sure that gambling is fair and open:
This is to ensure that clubs keep the bettings fair, for example, players from that club do not bet on their own games or themselves in a scam for money.
Protecting children and vulnerable adults:
This means that the gambling commitee add regulations to protect vulnerable people from being harmed and exploited into the gambling community.
By doing this, it will stop people from getting involved in gambling, this can result in a large proportion of people not losing money and then borrowing from others, this will allow people to live a steady life.
Source of information
This information has been taken from the DCMS website, which shows that the 'gambling Act 2005' law supports the use of different types of gambling ranging from betting to gaming machines.
The three main points above have been included into this law because vulnerable people should be protected from building an addiction to betting etc.
There was a gambling commission set up under the Department for Culture, media and sport (DCMS) to help under 'The Gambling Act 2005', they are a Independent Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB).
The gambling commission help prevent the chance of people betting illegally, and groups that are in on a betting scam, for example, in rugby, a group could bet on a player to get 'injured' and leave the pitch at a certain time, with the player being in on it to increase his income.
The group had bet high bets on Jennings to get a red on a specific minute in the match.
